The IGEP Foundation is a trade promotion organisation sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India. Established in 1988, IGEP uses various trade develpment instruments to promote Indian exports to Germany and to other member countries of the European Union.

The work was originally implemented by the Gesellschaft für Technische Zusammenarbeit (GTZ – German Agency for Technical Co-operation) under a joint trade promotion programme of the Ministry of Commerce Govt. of India and the German Ministry of Economic Co-operation and Development. It has become a private foundation since July 2005.

IGEP (www.igep.org) is:

the official representative of the two federal states of Germany:

	the representative office of the State Ministry for Economic and Labour Affairs of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg and

	WTSH - Business Development and Technology Transfer Corporation of Schleswig-Holstein with the purpose of strengthening economic relations between these two states and India.
